Huye
Huye was established in the colonial era and is evident from the architecture of the city that has existed to date.
It was initially named Astrida after the late wife of the Belgian King Leopold III.
Today, Huye is a thriving urban centre, hosting cathedrals, churches and two of Rwanda’s popular academic institutions namely; the National University of Rwanda and the National Institute of Scientific Research.
